Chapter 38. His Lunch

Joan POV

“That’s the CEO,” Indie whispered and I drew my eyes away from Aaron’s retreating form as he entered the elevator with the men.

It wasn’t a coincidence that Indie was having her interview at Aaron’s company. What the fuck?

“Yeah, that’s… “ I trailed off as she nudged me and instantly perked up, straightening in her seat.

“Okay. He’s staring at us,” she said and my heart skipped a beat as I shot a glance at the elevator. My eyes met with Aaron’s before the doors slid shut.

Wow.

Indie and I held conversations with the ladies sitting next to us, just to while away the time. A few minutes later, we were asked to vacate the reception and move to the floor upstairs.

As the candidates moved into the elevator, I hesitated.

I wasn’t here for an interview so following them around wasn’t exactly ideal.

“I’ll just hang around,” I whispered to Indie as she walked towards the elevator.

“Okay. Wish me luck,” she gave a sho
