“I’m sorry I didn’t reach out to you throughout the day, I was occupied with some stuff.” Mason apologized as I answered the phone.

It was already dark and we didn’t speak throughout the day. A part of me felt that he wasn’t being honest with me. He wasn’t busy with anything, he just wasn’t interested in speaking to me.

Maybe he needed space. Or some time to think.

“It’s okay.” I brushed off his concerns with a dismissal wave even if it wasn’t okay. I felt bad because he didn’t speak to me throughout the day when we clearly had a lot to talk about.

“How are you doing? What did your parents say?” Mason asked with a hint of concern and curiosity in his voice.

“I shouldn’t be going out with the enemy.” I held back a scoff as I told him. “Forget about me. I wanted to apologize for leaving you at the restaurant. I’m really sorry.”
