Chapter 92
The prince called over one of the guards, and they both headed to a small training ground near the castle. They practiced for two hours until Thomas could hit the target most of the time. He had missed a few, but the prince told him that he did very well for his first attempt.
"I have another test for you," the prince said. "I want to see how well you fight. I want you to spar with my guards."
Thomas was hesitant about the idea. He had no idea what to do in a fight. He had never had to use a sword or a bow before, and the only thing he had to rely on was his own body.
"Are you sure that is necessary?" he asked.
The prince nodded. "You should know that my guards are very skilled, and it would be better if you got to know how to handle yourself."
"What happens if they defeat me?"
The prince looked at him with amusement. "If they defeat you, you will go home."
