With worry, Cassa visited the house of her ex-lover located on the outskirts of town. She waited for her ex-lover to return home, but something unexpected happened. Chapter 1

Cassa emptied her stomach into the sink, unable to hold back her nausea this morning. She couldn’t eat anything properly, and Alano quickly noticed his suffering wife.

“Cassa, are you okay? Do you want to see a doctor?” Alano asked when he saw his wife at the sink, vomiting.

Cassa didn’t answer for a while until the nausea subsided, and she looked at her husband, who was trying to give her warm water.

“Thank you. I’m fine. You need to leave for work, right? I’ll get your bag,” Cassa said, leaving Alano, who looked so concerned for his beloved wife.

Although Alano knew Cassa never loved him, he would never give up on giving her the attention she deserved as his wife.

Cassa held her nauseous stomach, trying to dismiss the feeling and quickly fetched Alano’s bag.

Cassa walked slowly to the living room and met her husband, who was waiting for the bag. Cassa smiled and immediately handed it to him.

“Alano, here’s your work bag. Be careful when driving,” Cassa warned. Although she didn’t love Alano, he had always been kind to her and never hurt her. At least Cassa would remember Alano’s sweet gestures throughout her life so that she wouldn’t suffer.

Alano took his bag from Cassa’s hand and looked at his wife’s pale face. He was surprised by Cassa’s sudden condition.

“Darling, should I stay and take care of you this morning? My day off is until tomorrow. I wouldn’t mind keeping you company if you’re sick,” Alano said, touching Cassa’s forehead.

“No, there’s no need. Go to work. I’ll contact you if something happens to me,” Cassa said, preventing her husband from skipping work, even though she knew that Alano’s family-owned company had more flexible rules.

There was nothing Alano could do when faced with such rejection. Alano then said his goodbyes and kissed Cassa’s face several times with enthusiasm.

“Alright then. I’ll go to work, but you have to call me when your body needs assistance. Understand?” Alano asked, making sure Cassa understood what he was saying.

Cassa simply nodded in understanding and walked Alano to the front door. She watched him get into the car before leaving the house.

Cassa took a deep breath and quickly left the house to buy a pregnancy test. Cassa suspected that she was not sick but pregnant.

In a hurry, Cassa stopped at the pharmacy and bought what she needed. She then returned home and locked the front door.

“I hope it’s just an illness. I just had sex with Alano two days ago. It would be a big shock if I’m really pregnant,” Cassa said anxiously.

Cassa walked into the bathroom and dipped the pregnancy test into her urine. She waited for a few minutes until the test showed the result.

The woman hesitated to pick up the pregnancy test. Cassa was still unsure about what to do, even though she didn’t know the test result yet. However, her anxiety made her confused and disoriented.

“It’s time. The test result should be out by now. I’m so curious, but I’m scared to know. God, what should I do?” Cassa asked, so worried that she hesitated to look at the test.

With almost no confidence, Cassa walked back into the bathroom and looked at the pregnancy test in the plastic cup.

Her hand tried to reach for the test, and she was shocked to see two lines on the test, indicating that she was pregnant.

“W-What is this? Am I really pregnant?” Cassa asked, surprised by the result. But her mind went back to her ex-boyfriend, Delbert.

“I just had sex with Alano two days ago, so this must be Delbert’s child, right?” Cassa asked herself in front of the mirror.

Cassa remembered clearly that before her wedding day with Alano, she had sex with Delbert to let go of her single life and also to feel the longing for him.

Cassa sat down, closed her eyes, and her emotions mixed between happiness and fear. Cassa was glad because she was carrying the child of someone she loved so much.

But on the other hand, Cassa was afraid that her large family and Alano would find out that the child she was carrying was not Alano’s.

“What should I do? What should I say to Alano? Eventually, my belly will grow. What if everyone suspects and is confused because I hid this pregnancy?” Cassa asked, with a frustrated look on her face.

Cassa’s right hand held her still flat stomach. She worried about her own future and also the future of the child, especially if everyone found out she was pregnant before marriage.

Cassa slumped down in sadness. She regretted that Delbert had left her with all of this inside and made this child a source of fear for her.

Nine months is not a short time to hide her pregnancy, and Cassa won’t be able to hide the birth later.

Cold sweat dripped from Cassa’s forehead, her face pale, and she quickly stood up from her current position.

“Calm down, Mom will try her best to hide you, or at least you have to live in the same world with me. I will never abort you; we have to fight. Do you understand?” Cassa asked, talking to the fetus in her stomach.

Cassa smiled and quickly threw away the pregnancy test into the trash can, which had just passed in front of her house this morning. Cassa tried to stay calm to avoid harming her unborn child.

Pregnancy, which should have been a joyful occasion, had turned into a disaster for Cassa. The problem was that the child was Delbert’s, the person most despised by Cassa’s extended family.

Cassa was arranged to marry Alano because Caterina, Cassa’s mother, knew that Cassa had a lover from a humble family background, while Cassa’s family came from a higher class. Economic factors caused Caterina to separate the two individuals.

“Cassa, you look pale. Are you sick?” Vany asked, who had just thrown away trash in the same place as Cassa. Vany was a close neighbor of Cassa and very caring. She was also surprised to see Cassa looking as pale as a corpse.

“Oh, do I look pale? I’m just feeling a bit tired. It’s nothing at all,” Cassa said, covering up her current condition with a fake smile.
