Hope

Becky reached out her hand so she could touch James’s, she was devastated to see him so sick and desperate like that.

"We'll get through this together, okay?" she said in a choked voice. James didn't say anything, but he took her hand that was outstretched for him.

They were silent for a while until he said,

"I'm in a mess Becky, all those memories seem to be taking over me again, everything feels so gray, I'm so scared, I'm afraid I'll end up hurting you just like what my father did to my mom," he said, his voice choking in his throat.

Becky felt her eyes heat up, she wished she could hug him tightly but she was afraid it would hurt him so much that all she could do was hold onto his hand tightly and felt the warmth of his skin.
