The Job Offer. Part 1

The email on my phone makes me squeal.

I’m bouncing on my seat in the couch when Adam’s amused voice reaches me.

“Clearly someone got good news.”

I shoot to my feet and rush over to where Adam’s sitting at the kitchen peninsula with his laptop.

“Really good news!” I grin and shake my phone. “I got the job!”

He quirks his head to the side, his expression curious. “You already have a job. You’re getting a new one?”

Shit. My excitement instantly dims. Nervousness takes over when I realize my mistake. I didn’t want Adam to know about this job. Now I’ve gone and spilled the beans.

“Uh… sort of.” My brain churns as I try to come up with a way to tell Adam the truth but not the whole truth. “I’m still working at the coffee shop. This new job is a one time deal.”

“Doing what?”

“Modelling for a book cover.”
