“Yes, I accept you,” Elise says breathlessly to Kaide. The surprise on his face is evident as she stares at Elise. But the joy was short-lived, as he immediately stiffened the moment he felt a strong scent of Rygan’s pheromones filled with blood lust.

His hands were balled into fists, his nose flared in anger, his eyes stared like deadly daggers towards them, and his jaw tightened in rage with a popped vein that was evident across his creased temple.

“What the hell is this?” He snarls at them both, but the moment he lunges to attack Kaide, Elise comes in front of Rygan, pushing his massive frame back as his hands are on Kaide’s neck in an instant.

“Rygan, stop!”

“I’ll kill him!”

“Rygan, I wanted this; I chose him, and you have to respect that,” she says firmly. Rygan paused at her words. He looked down at Elise, this time really looking at her. He looked into her gaze, pleading for him to stand down, and something in him broke from her icy blue gaze.
