Leon’s POV
I stepped into the room, the door creaking softly as it swung open. The air inside was stale, heavy with the stench of defeat. There she was, lying on the cold stone floor, her eyes fixed on the ceiling, staring at nothing. Her skin was pale, her body motionless—numb.
Good.
It was time.
I moved closer, each step slow and deliberate. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t even blink. A shell of the fierce woman she once was. Zane had done his job well. But he didn’t understand the art of true manipulation. He lacked finesse, the delicate touch required to break someone’s spirit without shattering them completely.
I crouched beside her, letting the silence hang between us, oppressive and thick.
“You know,” I said softly, “there’s something poetic about destruction. It’s the only true freedom.”
