Moments passed after Damian had spoken, and his father remained silent, his eyes fixed on Damian as he was trying to understand his son, or nonetheless differing with his opinions as it was their custom.
“I’m also running my motel chain, which is a huge responsibility. Adding your business to that would be too much. I don’t want to take on more than I can handle and risk failing at everything. I want to do things right, not just for me but for everyone involved.”
Ellie chimed in, her voice gentle but firm. “Father, Damian has been working tirelessly to balance both businesses. He is doing it out of love and respect, not out of disregard for you. He cares for you and loves you so much, which is why he is afraid of failing you.”
