Blair’s body shook like a leaf, her teeth clacking against each other as she tried to mask her terror with a forced smile, I grabbed her hands and pulled her close to me.

The reason for her panic was clear as day.

Tyler, the asshole whose lease I had terminated, had crashed the party, and he had brought with him Blair’s mother, the woman who had abandoned her daughter years ago.
