“What were you saying on the phone earlier?” I asked the moment she opened the door to her suite.

“Hello to you too.”
She closed the door and pulled her see-through robe tighter around her body, walking slowly toward me.

“What deal did you make with my brother?” I ignored her attempt to point out my lack of greeting. I didn’t care about politeness right now. My head was full and my heart was tangled with fear over Hailey’s disappearance.

“The deal that will get us what we both desire,” she said casually, brushing past me to grab two glasses and a chilled wine bottle from the mini refrigerator.

“How do you expect us to find evidence of Mia cheating on him?”
Frustration thickened my voice—frustration, fear, and helplessness. If Hailey had been kidnapped for ransom, at least I could have paid it.
