The Prey
Judas pulled back just enough to look at me.
His stormy eyes searched my face, the disappointment and fury swirling in them freezing me in place. He wasn’t yelling—no, Judas didn’t need to. His silence was more terrifying than any outburst could have been.
“You don’t listen, do you?” His voice was low, deadly quiet. A whisper of menace that coiled around me like a snake. His hand slid up from my hip, moving from my arms and then sinful fingers curled tightly around my jaw and forced me to look at him. “You take my warnings very lightly, don’t you?”
The raw edge in his voice made my breath hitch. Not in fear, but something darker, something I didn’t want to term.
