Chapter 98

If I went to sleep, it was most likely that I was not going to wake up again; that I was going to die. “Where are they?” I tried to keep talking so I could stay tethered to the real world. 

He cuddled me in his arms and I enjoyed being cared for. “You’re talking about Chad and Katara?” 

I nodded, and then said in a weak voice, “Yeah. Where are they?” 

“I–I don’t know. Since I was pushed out of the car, this is the first time that I have gained consciousness. I have not seen anyone of them since.” He looked around and took in the surroundings. 

“I was a few miles from here; in another shack. But mine wasn’t locked. I was going to die but I healed myself. And…and then I thought about you and just had to find you.” 

He looked back at me and flashed me a warm smile. “And you did. You did.” He brushed a few strands of my hair away from my face. “Now, we have to find a way out of here. I don’t think it would be smart to wait for Chad or Kata
