Chapter 26
“How was work the other night? I forgot to ask,” Lisa said as Brooklyn helped her aunt prepare dinner on Wednesday evening.
“It was good, it was just like working back at home,” Brooklyn nodded.
“That’s great, it’s so good to see you settling in well,” Lisa smiled. “Have you heard from your parents?”
Brooklyn sighed and shook her head. “I’m presuming they’re too busy arguing with each other to remember that they have a daughter.”
“Oh no, dear, don’t think like that,” Lisa gasped as Brooklyn laid plates out on the table, ready for later. “Oh, Brandon isn’t in, we won’t need all those plates!”
“Where is he?” Brooklyn wondered as she returned one of the plates to the cupboard.
“I don’t know where that boy goes,” Lisa chuckled. “He said he’ll be home late. I think he’s playing on the internet or the Google with some of his friends.”
“The Google?” Bro
