I led Chelsea by the hand down the moonlit path to my cottage. My heart pounded so hard I thought she might hear it. Her fingers interlaced with mine sent tiny fireworks up my arm—nothing I’d ever felt before. With her here, every fight and drama with Camilla vanished. Camilla was already a distant memory.
We stopped on the porch. Chelsea studied the cabin’s worn siding and sagging roof. “This place is adorable,” she said, beaming.
I raised an eyebrow. Adorable wasn’t exactly the first word I’d pick. “Thanks,” I said, fishing my key from my pocket. “Come on in.”
Inside was surprisingly neat. Chelsea ran her hand along a spotless countertop. “Wow. This is incredibly clean.”
I shrugged. “Wolves keep order. In the mountains, a messy cabin means mice and bugs.”
She shuddered. “Eww.”
