Chapter 681
Isabella’s POV
I took another breath, my fingers curling around the envelope, lifting it off the bonnet as I turned it over, inspecting it from every angle. No markings, no address, no name. Just a plain, brown envelope.
What was inside it? Who sent it? Why leave it here?
I felt a shiver run down my spine, my stomach churning as a cold dread settled in the pit of my stomach.
There was only one way to find out.
My fingers slid under the flap, my nails digging into the paper as I slowly peeled it open, my heart pounding painfully as I pulled out the contents.
Photographs.
Dozens of them, their glossy surfaces gleaming under the sunlight as I fanned them out in my hands, my eyes widening as I took in the images.
No... No, it couldn’t be...
My breath caught in my throat, my chest tightening painfully as my eyes darted from one photo to the next, my stomach twisting as a wave of nausea washed over me.
It was me.
