Logan's POV

And I hated it. I hated how easily she could be taken from me, how fragile this moment was, how quickly it could be shattered.

She turned to me, her eyes apologetic, her mouth opening as if to say something, but she hesitated, her gaze dropping to her hands. 

“I... I need to go,” she finally said, her voice soft, hesitant.

I forced a smile, hiding the bitterness clawing at my chest, the anger that threatened to consume me. 

“I understand.”

But I didn’t. I didn’t understand why she had to leave, why she couldn’t stay with me, why the world couldn’t just leave us alone for one damn day.

I wanted to ask her to stay, to beg her not to go, to tell her how much I needed her, how much I wanted her. 

But the words died on my tongue, the fear of losing her, of scaring her away, keeping me silent.
