Lovella let out a guttural sound, part gasp, part snarl, as the force of the attack sent her staggering back. The glow in her purple eyes dimmed slightly, flickering like a dying flame. Around her, the wolves faltered, their frenzied movements stuttering as the invisible tether of her control wavered.
“You—” she hissed, clutching at the blade embedded in her chest. Her purple eyes, now wild with fury and pain, locked onto Daring. “You think this will stop me?”
