Lila’s POV
Rowan padded in behind me, leaning against the bathroom cabinets like he’d just discovered my private sanctuary—and claimed it. I flicked on the shower, the hiss of water filling the tiny room, and tuned into the low thrum of my wolf rattling around in my skull the moment Rowan slipped out of my line of sight. Great. Here we go again.
I stepped back, water sloshing around my feet, and studied him. He was staring at the tiled shower wall as though it contained the secrets of the universe—and judging by that far-off look, he thought he’d cracked one. “You okay?” I asked, a little breathless from anticipation (and the steam).
His head snapped to me, lips curving into that cocky half-smile I’d come to know as both kryptonite and security blanket. “I’m fine.
