Chapter 90
Summer’s POV
I stumbled outside and immediately regretted ditching my jacket. My arms wrapped around my middle like I was hugging a giant, invisible teddy bear. Holy crap, it was colder than I remembered—then again, I hadn’t been out of those townhouse walls for roughly a geological era, regaining strength and whatnot. My teeth were already rat-a-tatting at each other when Jared dropped his analogy bomb.
“Your wolf is a separate being that you share a body with,” he said, sounding like a frustrated professor who just realized he left his coffee on the roof of his car. “Picture food on a plate. The food’s the wolf—runs the show when in control. The plate—that’s you—just sits there, looking pretty, holding it all up but not doing anything vital.”
I rolled my eyes. “Except for looking nice,” I pointed out in my best I’m-super-confident voice. (Spoiler: My teeth chattering might have said otherwise.)
