Celine didn’t speak, but she did grab the glass back from Jake and take a swig from it. She made sure to give Mia a sneer as the glass touched her lips.
She was intoxicated. I could tell by the flutter in her eyes and the smile that formed on her lips. But before she could even begin to regain her composure, an agitated voice arose once more, which was very annoying in the ears.
‘‘Celine! It’s your turn again!’’ Mia laughed, and everyone else in the room clapped their hands before turning their attention to Celine as if she were a clown performing at a carnival.
‘‘You're doing it on purpose!’’ Suddenly, Jake voiced his complaint.
‘‘Mr. Harvey, I hereby solemnly swear... It wasn't just me going around spinning the bottle all by myself...’’ Mia put her hands up as she spoke. ‘‘I think you have to blame for her shitty luck!’’
