She forced another handful of popcorn into her mouth as she pressed her left ear down to her shoulder to hold her phone in place.

“You’re sure it’s okay if I stay out tonight?” Emily asked, from the other end of the phone.

Roxanne, who’s eyes were fixed on the television in front of her, nodded her head in affirmation. As if Emily could see her from the voice call.
