Chapter 23
Clem smiled, as he heard Emma call his name. She remembered after all. He thought. For a second, he had thought that she wouldn’t recall.
“Your voice sounds so drowsy.” He said. “Were you sleeping when I called?” He asked.
“Yes of course. What else would I be doing?” Emma said, slurring the words at the end. It was totally apparent that she was still under the influence of sleep.
“Emma…” Clem drawled.
“Yes…” She slurred back, still pondering on why he had decided to spoil her beauty sleep. The guy just didn’t know the right time to call. She thought. She wasn’t a morning person; never has been.
It was Amelia who always made sure that she was up for school in the mornings. She has also lost count of how many times she had thrown her alarm across the room. One time it had smacked her father squarely on the face. It never budged though; it still rang punctually every morning to her annoyance.
“Today is Monday…” He said, laying a strong southern drawl
