Killian's point of view
"No, fucking no," I muttered, the words barely audible. My mind reeled, unable to process the devastating truth that Lorenzo had just revealed. "Sheila can't be the vessel." The denial clawed at my throat, a desperate attempt to cling to the hope that this was all a terrible mistake.
I watched as Lorenzo sank into a nearby chair, his hands clasped tightly together, his knuckles white with strain. The air crackled with unspoken despair.
"How can you be so sure?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper as I approached him.
