Chapter 98. Then and Now

Serena hurriedly sat up, grabbed a piece of clothing draped over the back of the sofa, and threw it on without even checking what it was.

"I, um... I'll go make us something to eat."

Without waiting for Xavier to say anything, she sidestepped him and got to her feet.

She rushed into the kitchen and turned on the tap, letting the sound of running water drown out everything else. Only then did Serena dare to clutch her chest, gasping for air.
