Emmeline raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest. “Where did the phrase ‘You’ll sit on my lap’ go? Are you bored of me already?” she teased.
Zavian leaned down, bringing his face close to hers with his lips curved into a sly grin. “That,” he began, “Was a test. And you, my dear, passed with flying colors.”
Emmeline’s chest bubbled with laughter. “You are a devil,” she said, shaking her head.
Zavian straightened up and shrugged arrogantly. “Guilty as charged,” he said unapologetic as he took his seat across from her.
Emmeline shook her head again, placing her bag on the nearby sofa. Then she stood up without a word and stepped toward him. Slowly, she spread his legs apart and slid between them with her hands resting lightly on his shoulders as their gazes locked.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Their eyes said everything their lips didn’t.
