Emmeline straightened up slowly, rolling the snowball from one hand to the other with a nonchalant shrug. “Why not? What’s wrong with having a little silly fun with our husbands?”

“For starters, we’re all supposed to be fully grown adults here,” Yuna scoffed, eyeing the snowball with patent disdain. “Not to mention, you and I are certainly too old to be running around like hormonal teenagers on a playground. And Minnie...a mother of two, acting just as ridiculous!”

The judgmental words riled more than Emmeline cared to admit and a flare of uncharacteristic defiance rose up within her. “So what if we are adults? Or mothers, for that matter?” she countered, unable to resist pushing back against the other woman’s snobbish attitude. “Acting silly and having fun doesn’t have an age limit or expiration date. If you ask me, the world could use a lot more grown-ups willing to embrace their inner child from time to time.”
