Emmeline let out a sarcastic laugh. “But debate is a woman’s favorite sport,” she quipped. “And FYI, we’re not exactly known for playing fair.”
Zavian turned away from her without answering, making his way to the chair with the folded towels.
Her eyes followed him, tracing the way the water dripped down his spine and over the curve of his back.
“You’ll have to learn how to accept defeat with me,” his tone was casual but firm. “Because I’m used to being the final decision-maker, whether in court or out of it.”
He picked up a towel, shaking it out slowly before turning back to her.
“I want you to let me win sometimes,” Emmeline said. “In debates, in arguments. Tell me I’m right, even if I’m wrong. Our relationship itself is already a sin, so what’s a little more indulgence? Sometimes, it’s okay to give up what’s right just to please me.”
