A low purr of an engine caught Brody’s attention. “Ah, my ride’s here.” He turned as a sleek black Bentley rolled to a smooth stop beside him.

Emile stepped forward and extended his hand to Brody. “I’m counting on you, Attorney Park. My sister’s innocence rests in your hands.”

“I’ll give it my all.” Brody’s smile carried genuine determination. “The evidence we’ve gathered is compelling. Your sister’s case is strong.”

With that, he settled on the back seat and the car sped away.

Emmeline stood frozen for a moment, watching the vehicle fade before wrapping her arms around herself. “Mom told me not to come home.”

The events of the day had left her exhausted, both physically and emotionally.
