Chapter 100. Heartache Memories

Lucien’s pupils dilated and his jaw dropped. He couldn’t figure out why she was mad at him. He has heard so many terrible things about her, including how she favors the wealthy and despises the poor.

He has also heard she is one who loved bullying the weak just to show off her strength but yet fear the strong.

Is that what she is doing?

Is she showing off her strength to make me feel oppressed?

Is that why she is suddenly angry at me? Or is she just trying to provoke me?

I didn’t ask her for money then why is she offering me money? Did she really think that I’m a mere beggar?

Does it mean that she too doesn’t know who I am? Perhaps she doesn’t because if she did she won’t have said that they are expecting a distinguished guest I am not worthy to see when as a matter of fact I’m the guest they are waiting for.
