The DNA test II
"Hi Cassandra," Reverend Lawrence said, after the trio had left the room.
"What is it?" I retorted.
He stood up and walked towards me and I cringed in fear, although I didn't make it obvious.
And then, he did something I didn't expect.
He crouched and fell to his knees, tears dripping from his eyes, groping my feet which trembled and grovelling for mercy.
"I'm sorry, I swear, I'm sorry. I've been haunted by what I did not just to you but to other naive girls. I'm dying, please. God has dealt mercilessly with me, I lost the license to preach, I went to prison. If not for my sister's influence and the stroke I suffered this year, I'd have still been rotting in jail. In the day, the police watch my every movement, I can't even go where I want to unless informing them beforehand. In the night, I'm tortured by nightmares," He said.
If he thought he was going to get sympathy, he may get it from anyone but me.
