With that said, Ambrose walked back to his wife, carrying his plate of cheese and the goblet of wine. He grabbed a few final morsels, then left the buffet table too. There was only so long they could pretend to collect food. The countess was already watching him suspiciously.
And he wasn’t the only one. Knight Leo, the spy, came to the banquet as well. "Ambrose, what were you talking about with the Countess?” Leo insisted as Ambrose halted beside him.
“Oh, you know, we were dealing with conventional threats and conflict humor,” he answered back pleasantly, eating a piece of cheese. Leo's nose scrunched up in discomfort. He was simply not delighted. “Do not consort with the enemy Knight Ambrose.”
“It’s just a pastime, Leo.”
