Althaia

“A hotel?” I asked when Damiano opened the car door for me.

“Yes.” He pulled me to his side, providing me with some of his warmth as we made our way into the elevator. “I have an event to attend, and I want you to join me.”

“Sounds nice.” I replied with a smile as we exited the elevator onto the private floor. “What kind of event?” I asked as we stepped into the hotel room. 

“Auction.” Damiano replied as he grabbed a drink from the minibar. I gave a slight nod and went to the floor-to-ceiling window when some golden light caught my attention.

 The golden light came from a large lake with sprinklers going high in the air, moving around to a soft rhythm with lights at the bottom.

“It’s beautiful.” I remarked, my voice filled with awe.

“Most beautiful.” Damiano responded. I looked back at him, his intense gaze resting on me.

“You’re not even looking.” I chuckled.

“I am.” His golden-brown eyes never
