Chapter 37. The Last Alternative

The shadow of a person approached us, then a very familiar voice drawled, “What the hell’s going on here?”
My stomach dropped, and I clenched my jaw at the sound of his voice. The voice was deep, unimpressed and most definitely Fitcher’s.
Shit. This wasn’t good.
He stepped in front of me a moment later, his arms crossed and his expression dark and unreadable. I hated it. His sharp, blue eyes glared at me before glancing over at Reika, who was half-dressed, flushed, and her hair messy in a way that it felt like a battle had happened here. Which, in a way, it had.
“Fitcher,” I said stiffly. My voice sounded rough in my ears. It wasn’t because of a lack of sleep, and I think he already knew that. His eyes narrowed slightly.
“I didn’t think I’d find you here with her when I followed your scent,” he said. His tone was deceptively casual. But I knew him too much to be deceived by it. Even the way he said it dripped with judgment.&
