He asked me so diplomatically that I couldn’t refuse or find a coherent excuse not to do it.
“Sure, no problem,” I agreed, and reached out to grab Sasha.
What a disappointment—they were “kicking” me out of there.
Well, I’d already had a chance to listen enough, so I should have gone along with it. Or not. No! Of course not. I thought I would continue listening from the kitchen, that is, if they didn’t go somewhere else. I received the girl in my arms and heard her laugh heartily as she took refuge in my neck. It still surprised me that this cute little baby was so affectionate and smiling with me, a person who was almost a stranger to her, but on the other hand, it felt good to hug her. It was something warm, unexpected. I was glad that her father trusted me enough to give me the little girl with that ease.
That is to say, I was glad to know that they trusted me, instinctively.
Or maybe it was that I was getting attached to those little creatures.
