Book 3: Heartbroken

I pace Drake’s nursery, holding his teddy bear. I find myself humming to it, even though it isn’t Drake. He is still missing.

Sobs wrack my body. My heart aches for my son. I curse Riley for taking him away and let out a broken howl.

Rafe comes into the nursery moments later. “Oh, love,” he whispers and pulls me into his arms.

“I know Zeke told us to stay here just in case they’re planning to do something to you, but I can’t stand it, Rafe. I can’t stand not being out there looking for our baby,” I sob.

“I know.” He rubs his hands up and down my back, trying to comfort me. “I can’t stand it either. I think I will call Zeke back to the castle and tell him we’re going to take over. I feel like I’m climbing the walls.”

“We’ll watch over each other. Then there won’t be any reason for Zeke to worry,” I decide.

“I like that plan.” He kisses me. “Come to bed for now. You need rest.”

I sigh and set Drake’s teddy bear b
