I blinked at that. “Two heartbeats? What the hell are you talking about? Don't tell me the injected serum caused it?” I sat up as a dark thought gripped my mind. “Am I a monster? Would I turn into a bat and start biting random people like Dracula? Would I have to sleep in a coffin? Oh, my God! I'm not ready to live in a spooky castle!” I yelled, mourning my fate.

“Well…” He scratched his hair as his eyes darted from me to the door, almost like he was expecting my mates to kick the don't down. “I don't know about the person you mentioned, or turning into a bat thingy and biting people. Is it a normal thing for humans?” He leaned in to whisper, sounding genuinely curious.

I blinked, wondering who among us should be curious. “What's with the double heartbeats, then? Am I sick? If I'm not turning to Dracula any time soon, what's amiss with me?”

“I think…” He trailed off, glancing towards the door as if there were something he didn't want to say. “This might
