I grabbed my phone immediately and called Love. I was pacing and hoping that her engagement was false. That the press was wrong about it.

“Hello. Good morning, babe,” she sounded cheerful over the phone. My heart was racing in my chest. My family was watching me anxiously.

“Are you engaged to David Kofflin?” I asked urgently. Silence. It was quiet, but I could hear the racing of her heart.
