Her mind reeled as she replayed Diego’s words, the fierce way he had defended her, even against his mother. She had expected him to be indifferent or even to take Camila’s side.
Instead, Diego had revealed a depth of remorse and a desire to change that she hadn’t thought him capable of. When she finally closed the door to her room, she leaned against it, letting the revelations sink in.
As she crossed to the bed and sat down, her thoughts twisted into a complicated web of emotions. Had she been wrong about him all this time? Diego’s confession about his plans for the perfume line, a project she had poured her heart into, left her stunned.
