“It’s… it’s Michael,” she said. “He wants to talk.”

“Ah,” Christian’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “Well, go ahead. You should take it.”

She stared at him.

“Have you forgotten your mission already?” he chuckled. “You need to get closer to him, don’t you? Go on. Don’t let me stop you.”

Trying to appear calm, she picked up her phone and stepped away from the table.

She had a bad feeling about this. Why on earth did it feel like Christian already knew that this was going to happen?

He answered almost immediately.
