I stepped out of the hospital, my chest tight with fury for my father.

He caused this.

My mind was still racing, and I called Jane to get updates but then I saw her coming out of a car, and behind her was him.

My heart froze.

How the hell did my father get here so fast? Vegas to Greece? Even by private jet, it would take at least thirteen, fourteen hours. Except…

“Mr. Hermes… Fortunately, your father was already here for a business trip, so…” Jane said, slightly out of breath as she stopped in front of me.

I didn’t hear her. I didn’t care. My eyes locked on him. Lucien Grande, calm, unshakable, the same man I’d always hated for his control.

How did I even trust him enough to think he would welcome June when I was unconscious.

I couldn’t reconcile how he could be standing here, so composed, after everything. How he could move through the world like none of it mattered, while June—my June—almost died.
