Chapter 65. What If
June POV
I quickly tell Lia, Tobias, and Chris that I have to go. My chest is tight, my mind already burning with too many questions. I push through the station gate, the heavy air lifting a little as I step outside.
But I don’t get far.
“June,” Lia calls, catching up, tugging at my arm halfway through the gate.
I turn, “What is this?”
“You can’t just leave,” she says, her voice tight, almost pleading.
I blink at her. “Why not?”
She sighs, glancing back toward the building. “Chris is going to jail, and you’re just going to walk away?”
My brow furrows, as I cross my arms, the weight of everything slamming down again. “Lia, Chris spiked my drink. He wanted to have his way with me because of a petty bet. If that person hadn’t stepped in and beaten him, I’d be scarred for life. What exactly do you want me to do? I forgave him—but he has to face justice.”
