The thought rattled around in my brain, refusing to settle. It bounced off every corner of my skull, louder each time. It couldn’t be true. Adrian had to be lying. He had to.

I gripped the steering wheel tighter as I drove, my knuckles turning white. My breath came short, shallow. The words replayed in my head like a broken record, each repetition hitting harder than the last. Kelly, married to Adrian? How did something so huge pass me by?
