Eliza sat down and Mentor thought for a while. He had to reveal that secret to his mother. He couldn't let her be the last to know. It wouldn't be fair to her. He remembered the conversations that were whispered in the palace when he was still a child. His father had rejected her in a degrading way. He had tricked her by getting the family doctor to lie with her, without her knowledge. He humiliated her several times, not listening to her pleas, when she was only fighting to have the marriage of her childhood dreams.

Pharaoh had become a different man, a just and dignified man, but that didn't erase what he had done. Mentor knew that behind that mask of resignation, there were deep scars.

And he, as her son, could not despise the woman who had loved him so much. He would honor her as long as he lived. She deserved someone to do that.
