Dermot smiled at Madelyn on the stage as he called out his bid and moved closer to the stage.
"Two billion." Bernie continued bidding.
Everyone was astonished. Who did CEO Bernie think he was? Why was he bidding so recklessly and breaking the rules?
"Even though none of them were short of money, witnessing such an exponential increase in bidding was a first for them." Dermot hesitated as he looked in the direction of the bidder. He was in a dilemma – following the regular bidding rules would be embarrassing, but bidding exponentially would inflate the price of the jewelry set to astronomical levels.
"Three billion." Despite everything, he had to place a higher bid, as the money wasn't his to begin with. This bidding method caught everyone off guard.
Raymond also wanted to join the bidding, but such bidding was equivalent to throwing money out the window.
"Dad, shouldn't we continue?" Patrick urged
