Chapter 84
"I can offer you nothing." Matthew whispered unsteadily.
Unfazed, Rabbit shook her head with a heart-warming smile, selecting a few dishes and placing them in his bowl.
"I know." She softly replied.
Despite maintaining her smile, her eyes began to redden. She didn't want to add to his burdens.
Matthew nibbled a bit before putting down his chopsticks.
"Let's go." he addressed James.
Rabbit rose as well, not to follow, but a mere reaction to his action.
Suddenly, Matthew paused.
Taken aback, James was unsure of his next move. He had traversed the Punish mountain several times over the past few days and had observed Rabbit's sincere feelings for Matthew.
She knew that Matthew was a man not to be contained, that he was married. Yet, James couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for Rabbit. He believed she was more genuine than Isabella.
