Michael

It was quiet.

It had been quiet all the time since Killian left. Since Mike left London. Mike didn’t hear his wolf anymore. It was like this part of him had left together with his mate and he could not reach out to it or retreat it back. Mike could shift, but at those times too, the silence remained.

He’d also lost many of his senses. Not entirely of course, but it wasn’t the same.

Mike heard the raised voices from inside the room as he approached but he couldn’t catch any specific scent. And he heard them as a human normally would hear them- once he was close enough, not really in any distinct way. Just murmuration behind closed doors.

Mike wasn’t sure what he was anymore, but he was definitely not himself entirely.

He pushed the door open and all his colleagues raised their heads from the papers they’d bent over on the table.
