“They found it.” He says simply, but I’m just left confused.

What did they find? And who?

“You’re not making any sense,” I say to him, and the line goes silent.

It takes a few seconds before he speaks.

“They found the body, Quincy. They found Kate’s body.”

“No, that’s not possible,” I say to him. “We threw her in the water.”

My hands are shaking, and I may drop the phone if I don’t relax.

“Quincy, get over here,” Daniel says between his teeth. “They have witnesses.”

Witnesses? How is that even possible?

The bridge was empty and deserted.

The only person who saw what happened was Jimmy, and he was drunk as hell.

I see Iris stand up from her seat and she begins to walk over to me.

“I have to go.” I ended the call as Daniel was about to say something.

“Is everything okay?” She asks me.

For a moment, I’m captured by her eyes. They’re so pure and aesthetic, but then I’m reminded
