Chapter 19
He patted her, his face breaking in sweat as he watched her writhing in pain in his arms. His eyes misted with unshed tears, and he prayed it wasn’t too late before he got her to the hospital.
“Stay with me, baby,” he said, soothing her, wondering if she could hear him. He glanced at Andrew, glad he didn’t need to tell him to drive faster as he would have been scared of the speed with which he was driving if he hadn’t known of the urgency of his reason. He had never seen Andrew drive that fast, but he was grateful the man had it in him to drive that fast.
“Mom,” Jolene moaned, a tear escaping from her eye.
Tristan’s breath caught in his throat as he noticed that her breathing had become shallow. Lord, save us. He cried, hoping they found a hospital soon. He looked around him, his heart sinking at the surroundings. It was a small town, and he really hoped it wouldn’t take him years before he found where she could be saved.
