Chapter 80

The next morning was a refreshing one. The February winter winds were giving way to some nice March sun every now and then. Iris woke up around noon, to Lily bringing a hot breakfast with a warm smile and a promise to run a bath for her to be ready for the day. Iris returned the smile and got ready to dig in for breakfast after Lily headed out for her daily chores.

That is when a disoriented Clara entered the room with an equally miserable-looking Sussane in tow. Liliana sauntered casually soon after.

Iris looked up surprised, “What happened?”

The spoon in her hand dropped into the bowl as Sussane asked, “When was the last time you talked to the Alpha King?”

“Suz! What happened to Dom?” Iris’ eyes went wide in terror as she quickly tried to mind-link her husband and the father of her unborn child.

Lily just stood behind waiting for confirmation of the promise made last night as Iris panicked, “Why isn’t he responding? Why is his mind-link off?”
